I have a professional job but live off-grid in a tent in Hawaii – I love it and use a coffee shop for free WiFi | The Sun
A BRAND strategist who lives off-grid in a tent in Hawaii has offered followers a peek into her unusual living conditions.
It might not be to everyone's tastes, but she loves it and manages to continue her professional life thanks to free WiFi at a coffee shop.
But she's had to forego luxuries most of us take for granted, including inside bathrooms and conventional drinking utensils.
She, however, seemed unbothered and appeared to relish her life under canvas.
Michaela Jonsson's (@michaelajonsson_) post has had 39,000 likes and hundreds of comments.
Many commenters admitted they harbored a similar dream to live off-grid, while others said they couldn't imagine anything worse.
On her TikTok biog she describes herself as a: “Copywriting cool girl. Travel stories, day-to-day, life, and [business] chats.”
In her video, Michaela shared with viewers a typical day in her life living in a tent.
Bleary-eyed, she woke up at 5 am: “Because of the roosters crowing. I looked outside and tried to turn the light on but the electricity was out."
Despite living in a tent, this lady still had a professional life, so she prepared for her day the way most people did.

“Put on my makeup in a very dirty mirror, took my vitamins, and then I was on the search for fresh avocados.
“Got my avocadoes made myself some toast, found a fresh egg, made some coffee for myself, and poured some almond milk in there."
Michaela's coffee mug was in fact a jar, but she was not concerned as she sat on the balcony.
“Ate my avocado toast and fresh coffee on the balcony, beautiful view. It’s crazy and wild fun," she said.
It wasn't always quite so heavenly when a trip to the toilet was concerned, but at least she could see the funny side as she screwed her face up at the prospect.
“Time to go to the porta potties which is the bathroom here."
Then it was time to start her day job and she walked to her 'office' wearing a wrinkled white cotton blouse.
“Now I’m on the walk to go to the coffee shop where I have free wifi and I start my day as a brand strategist for a non-profit in Hawaii," she wrote.
“Life takes you on ups and downs, adventures, and journeys, and I couldn’t love my life any more than I already do.”
Not all commenters were seduced by life under canvas: “I could never wake up and willingly live this way," said this guy.
But the majority coveted a life away from the rat race.
“Everyone should live like this at least once. Looks lovely," was the view of this fan.
